BTV Link can't connect to BTV server when Windows firewall enabled
On the BTV server, I've got all the TV entries in the Windows firewall exceptions checked and BTV Link works fine with the firewall on the BTV server off. When I turn the BTV server firewall on, everything still works fine but if I have to restart BTV Link, it can't find the server unless i turn off the firewall on the BTV server.
Help!

Open up port 8192. That said, I've never had too -- BTV should do it for you.

Re: BTV Link can't connect to BTV server when Windows firewall enabled
This is really weird. Port 8192 was already open, but it seems my tests were inconclusive. I added both UDP and TCP ports 8192 to the firewall on the server, changed the client to specify /networkclient:<servername>, retried and it acted like it did before, but this time I waited longer and low and behold, it finally came up. I removed both FW entries for port 8192 and still works. When it is sitting there making me think it failed again, the screen turned completely white, and if I click on it Windows comes up and says BTVD3DShell is not responding, which previously I just killed the program. Now when this happens, I wait (about 20 - 30 seconds) and it finally comes up. Furthermore, yesterday when I first observed the unexpected behavior I did not specify /networkclient:<servername> and the client never could see the server. Now today (a new moon?) when I perform the same test (with the FW on), the client successfully detects the server and all is good. Something is different today, but I don't know what. Also, another weird observation, with the firewall off, BTV Link comes up quickly. With the firewall on, it goes white screen on me for about 30 seconds, then finally comes up.
Weird. Thanks for the help! I'm good.

Re: BTV Link can't connect to BTV server when Windows firewall enabled
Hmm maybe is the netbios name resolution. Did you try to just use the IP address and connect with /networkclient:xx.xx.xx.xx ?
