BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

Hey folks. I recently bought the H.264 plugin for BTV, as i got an iphone. I ran into an issue with the converting, it was failing every time:

So, i first downloaded the Windows Essencial codec pack that has FFWD H.264 mpeg-4 decoders in it. Nothing. Still didn't work. then i moved onto running the setup wizard again, so it would synch the liscense information. Nothing there either. Remembering i was on windows i restarted the computer lol. Unfortunately it wasnt windows. Then since i had the current BTV i thought about reinstalling. Not wanting to do that I "simulated" an upgrade. Basically i just ran the upgrade .exe even stil having the upgraded BTV. It luckily ran and finished, and then to my delight it worked. It was immediately failing earlier. so the fact that it is running is good news.

Re: BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

FYI, codec packs and the like usually cause this issue, not fix it.

I have yet to see installing any codec packs that fix the failure messages you're getting. Usually an uninstall and reinstall of BTV can fix this.

Different compression job, same result. Reinstall doesn't help. I can play back both the source and destination format fine.

Using HDPVR as input. (meaning the source is h.264/AAC in a tp stream)

Do a search for recent threads concerning Showsqueeze. It's broken in the past few releases.

Re: BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

One thing I found is that you have to squeeze an HD show to Windows Media format. It will let you pick MPG and then fail... maybe that is what you are seeing. It is documented somewhere that you can't showsqueeze an HD to SD - you have to go to some other format.

Re: BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

I fixed my issue by changing

<Property>
<Name>
UseArcSoftForHDPVR
</Name>
<Value>
0 or 1
</Value>
</Property>

from 1 to 0.

Note that this will only potentially work for HDPVR users. Ugh, I can't stand the Arcsoft codecs/software.....

Not for me. I can even Showsqueeze HDPVR to DIVX.

Re: BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

Possibly not. It ONLY works on a server that I have that does NOT have the HD PVR installed. Fails on the machine on which it is installed. Weird.

Re: BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

Tried installing the BETA last night. Installed fine. Re-initialized five failed SS jobs in the Tasks list - BADA-BING! FAILURE. X5. Again.

Re: BTV: Failed to build H.264 recompression graph

Contacting tech support should be able to get you an answer quickly. There is likely a problem with the specific ShowSqueeze settings you're trying to use or the files you are trying to ShowSqueeze.

Generically, ShowSqueeze is working. Using all the default profiles all supported conversions should work.

Note: ShowSqueezing HD-PVR files to anything will most likely fail. Some people get it to work sometimes, but basically, don't do that.

What file did you edit? I figure this must be an issue mainly with HD PVR as I don't have this issue with any Homerun HD recordings.
