Possible Competition for the Hauppauge HD-PVR?

In a search for trying to convert HDPVR tp files to XVID, I came across this interesting device.

MvixPVR

PS. Does anyone know of a way to convert HDPVR tp files to XVID (avi)?

Ugghhh nevermind....just delete this post pls.
Seems to be a glorified VCR.

Re: Possible Competition for the Hauppauge HD-PVR?

The Mvix can't handle HD. I got bad info when I posted it and noted it in the comments. Sorry, not the panecea we hoped for.

There is another possibility I'm hearing talked about involving SiliconDust. Not a lot of details yet and SiliconDust hasn't confirmed, but could be a good thing.

Isn't this an option that is built into BeyondTV? Showsqueeze works just fine for transcoding my .tp files into H.264 files(my chosen option).

ShowSqueeze doesn't do XVid. It does DiVx and H.264, both of which are MPEG-4 codecs.

Have you checked the software that comes with the HD-PVR? It has a lot of conversion options.

If you need an app that will transcode MPEG4 files into .AVI container, I'd look here:

Handbrake will convert HD PVR files to xvid, tested it, slow but it works.

Re: Possible Competition for the Hauppauge HD-PVR?

Why does it have to be XVID rather than divx that BTV supports?
