Hauppauge PVR-500 questions

I have read the very detailed thread concerning the PVR-500 card, its various tuner issues, etc. and I want to make sure I'm clear on where that all now stands. If anyone using these cards can chime in, I'd appreciate it.

According to the thread, the best PVR-500 to use is:

Type A Card
Tuner Version E492

Any comments, here?

Second, I assume that if I will be using two cards on the same system (Dell XPS 410) that the cards must be identical for best results.
Does one install the drivers twice, once for each card, or will one install take card of both cards. Does anyone know this?

Does anyone know the correct drivers for the Type A Card with Windows XP?

You can install two without problems. Doubt they have to be identical. Don't know which one I have but it has worked for years.

If there is more than one rev of the card in question, Hauppauge will point you to the right driver set.

If you have 2 cards that require the same driver, the second card will install itself. If you have 2 cards that require 2 different drivers, then you'll need to install both sets of drivers.

I did not think the cards were driver version-specific.

Snapstream suggests the version 2.0.28.23053 on their website for this card while other postings suggest the version off the UK site, 2.0.48.25037 is the best of the most current drivers to use.


BTW: Does anyone know of an issue with the PVR-500 not being able to run on a system with 4GB of RAM. Thought I read this in a post on this site?
