Smile BeyondTV and DirecTV

Hi there...

We are getting DirecTV installed in our new house next month and I currently have a BTV 4.82 with an older WinTV88 PVR card setup working on Comcast with channels below 100.

I'd like to know what y'all would suggest I do so I can get all the channels from DirecTV on my BTV box. We are living with not having channels about 100 for now, but would like to have them all when we change providers.

Thank you for all you suggestions in advance!

Re: BeyondTV and DirecTV

To get Directv channels you need a tuner that has s-video in (or composite) and something to change channels, either an IR blaster or serial control cable. There are detailed instructions on setting up btv with Directv in the knowledgebase. If you want hidef, then you need an HD PVR.

Re: BeyondTV and DirecTV

ZetaVu -- thanks for the reply.

I will look it up in the Knowledgebase.

The reading I had previously done had suggested that if I replaced my current tuner with something like the Hauppage 1600 with the IR Blaster that all would be ducky... but I wanted to make sure about the ability to tune to all the channels and record them w/o a hitch.

Thanks again for the pointer!

Re: BeyondTV and DirecTV

i am getting dvt this thursday. i have a hauppauge hvr-1800. should it not be just a matter of setting up from the default chanel for dvt like 2, 3, or 4 and have the dtv receiver change the channels at the time you want your recorded program?

No, that's the old method for VCRs. Here is the basic function. http://www.snapstream.com/products/b...howitworks.asp

Re: BeyondTV and DirecTV

I have Directv and BTV. I use a UIRT-USB and had to download a custom file for BeyondTV to recognize my Directv receiver. found here -> [plugin] DirecTV D11 Serial Codes

it works really great

Re: BeyondTV and DirecTV

I have DirecTV and I use the Hauppauge 1600 tuner. I get all the DirecTV channels without a problem.
