Multiple Channels per Stream?

When recording a show from one channel (e.g. CH 7.1) all the other channels on that same stream (7.2, 7.3 & 7.4) are recorded into the transport stream file as well. I don't understand why this is the case. It seems to me that if all I want is 7.1 the software should be able to separate out only that channel for recording and leave out the others, thereby making for a much smaller file size. Instead, I end up with a 9 gig file that is 75% stuff I don't want - and can't even view because the other channels don't show up in the list of recorded programs!
Why is this, and is there anything I can do about it? TIA.

Re : Multiple Channels per Stream?

Just use snipstream to remove the extra ones, or join the beta program, since the public beta 4.9 can do it on the fly...

Thanks for the reply. Where can I find this "Snipstream"? I did a Google search on it, but turned up nothing useful. TIA.

It's actually called StreamSnip and it's built into BTV.

Actually you can view the other streams. I believe the "]" key will let you switch to the different streams while you're watching.

Re: Multiple Channels per Stream?

this will change in Beyond TV 4.9, you will not have to StreamSnip anymore, it will be on the fly.

Yes, it's built into the web interface for BTV. If you go into the recorded shows from the web interface, the HD recording will have a an option button to the right of it, click that. Inside of that menu, you will see, at the bottom, a few buttons for streamsnip, showsqueeze, etc... Just click the streamsnip button, and then the submit button from the next menu, and it will process it for you. Hope that helps

Bob

Re: Multiple Channels per Stream?

You can also set it up to do StreamSnip automatically.
