BTV's DivX vs DivX 6.8

When I DivX movies using BTV they will play on all my DVD players and my new Panasonic SC-PT960 Home Theaters system. If I take the recorded movies and DivX them using DivX Converter 6.8 they will play on everything I have but the Home Theater, gives an error message does not support this type of file. I also noticed the file size from the real DivX software is much smaller and quality of video and sound seems same as BTV DivX. Look like I can get 3 or more movies per DVD disk.
What version of DivX does BTV use? Do I need to use an older version of the real DivX software?”
What I was trying to do is use one of my other computers to only DivX and burn DVD’s. My BTV machine is too busy recording movies which leaves no time to DivX them. I save the raw movies to a 500 GB usb/eSata drive and when full will swap it out with another. The full one then is ready for VideoReDo to remove fronts (garbage), commercials, and backs (garbage) and then ready to be DivX & burn.
Need someone to shed some light on this.

Thanks

Did you try renaming the divx to an avi?
