New System help & questions

I am setting up a new system to be used in my office. I have a few question that hopefully can be answered here.

1. I am a Dish Network customer. How does the Beyond TV interact with a Dish receiver as far as channel guide, channel selection, ect.?

2. I have noticed PCI tuner cards have a finite amount of channels, how would I be able to see all the Dish Network channels within Beyong TV?

3. What I would like to do is purchase a 42" LCD and have the display split into 4 quadrants one of which would be for Beyond TV and the other 3 would be viewing areas for the applications I work in. Can Beyond TV's viewing screen be set up like this?

So far I have purchased a Silverstone LaScalla LC18 case, ASUS P5 Deluxe MB, Intel Quad CPU, 4 gig memory and an e-GeForce 8600. I have yet to purchase the 42" LCD, Dish receiver, CD/DVD dives (holding off on BluRay), tuner card, sound card or an IR Blaster. Any suggestions on the appropriate tuner/sound card combination would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, John

1. Dish EPG is downloaded from snapstream.net to BTV. If you don't have certain channels, you can hide them.

2. Not sure as to what tuner you have, but you setup BTV for satellite and then it asks for the input type, and then locks the tuner to it. Then it controls the IR blaster to control the sat box.

3. It wouldn't be in full screen mode, but windows mode.

You have onboard sound, that's good. If it comes with optical, great. If your intent is recording HD content from Dish, then you need the Hauppauge HD-PVR. The other Hauppauge cards offer analog recording and also a ATSC tuner.

You should always review your BTV Log if you have issues.
