BTV stuck in "learn" phase of unlisted directv box

I recently switched from cable to DirecTV and was having some problems setting up my box. For all the cable boxes I've used, I've always been able to selecting different model boxes by the same manufacturer, and they've always worked fine.

I've got a DirecTV H20-600 that I'm trying to use with my HD PVR. When I select unlisted device and try to learn the new remote codes, I get as far as holding the 1 button on the remote, as per the instructions. After about 10-20 seconds or so, the USBUIRT seems to learn the code as the red light eventually comes on for a few seconds then goes out. You would think at that point it would move on to the next remote button it wants to learn, but it just hangs there. I've updated my USBUIRT firmware and drivers to the latest. The PC is a Vista Basic machine running 4.8.2.

I tried all the other non-cable boxes on the list in hopes one would have the right frequency to work but no luck. It seems all the new DirecTV boxes seem to operate on the same frequency now anyway, so I'm not sure why that is.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

if youre using hauppaugh and a MCE remote (or any for that matter), it wont work without a usb to serial cable. IOGear guc232a cable from circuit city is recommended. The learning phase will work if you back off the remote a little. Ive noticed that you can't be right on top of the ir reciever or it wont pick it up. Also pick serial tuner in your setup.

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm happy to report that you you're wrong. :-) I did a little more digging and found a custom remote code that works with it just fine. You just use the D11 code someone created and posted in this link:
