No Internet access; download guide?

Hello All,

I have been having trouble with my computer accessing the Internet. I have an N-draft wireless connector on my Multimedia computer (which has BeyondTV installed on it) which just will not connect to the Internet, though it seems to connect to the home network.

Other computers can access the Internet, so I was wondering, is there a possibility of downloading the program guide and importing it to BeyondTV?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, especially with the Fall TV season coming up fast.

Well I think the problem of not connecting to the internet should be addressed. Is your wireless router connected to the internet?
Are you using wep/wpa security? If so you will need to enter the key.
Putting in the values for ip and dns address instead of automatically in the internet protocol(TCP/IP) Properties seems to work better
something like this: ip address 192.168.0.20
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.0.1
preferred DNS server 192.168.0.1

the last two should correspond to your router's ip
Spend some time figuring out why your wireless isn't working and get it fixed and then you'll be happy and won't have to use some other unorthodox method of getting guide data and updates..etc.

Thank you for your response. While I agree with your assessment that the "no Internet access" problemm should be addressed, I have already spent about 6+ hours trying to get the wireless connection to work. I am tired of spending time on the Internet access for now and want another solution for getting the program guide updated. I already have done the things you suggested and more...many times. I have altered the firewall settings to make certain BeyondTV is not prevented from reaching the Internet. I tried disabling the firewall and antivirus to see if they were keeping the multimedia computer from accessing the Internet. I have run and re-run the network setup wizard as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless adapter and re-ran the wireless connection setup. I use WPA and have entered the correct passkey.

I am tired of wasting my time right now on trying to fix the Internet connection and with the Fall season upon us, I need to get the guide data to BeyondTV for now. I can do more troubleshooting in the near future for the Internet connection.

Anyone have any suggestions?

By the way, I am using Windows XP Pro with SP3.

Hook up to the network wired instead, just to get the guide updated until you get the wireless working.
By the way, did you try without wpa security first?

Thank you for your further reply; however, the reason I have the multimedia computer on a wireless connection is because it is nowhere near the wireless router (which has wired connections available) or another computer, so I would have to string about 25 feet of cable to hook up the multimedia computer directly to the Internet.

I do not desire to change the security of my wireless router away from WPA because that would affect all the other computers on the network. I do not want to take the chance of messing up the other computers just for one computer.

All of the above are further reasons why I have asked if there was a way to download and import the program guide.

If anyone has any knowledge about how (and whether) I can download the program guide and then import it into BeyondTV, I would much appreciate it. I am not really interested in messing with the Internet connection right now.

Well at least you're not stuck, when the fall programs come along you can always string a 25ft cable to do the guide updates and put it away for 12 days and repeat until a permanent solution is found
