Please recomend a TV Tuner Card

As you can see from my signature, I'm currently using a Hauppauge PVR-250.

I am soon adding another Standard Def DirecTV box as a 2nd input source.

I am wondering, what is the recommended TV tuner card for my setup?
I feel like the PVR-250 is ancient now and want to upgrade if something better is out there.

I will probably go HD in the future, but I am stuck with DirecTV because of a deal my condo has with them. Should I get the HD-PVR?

I understand that with the HD-PVR I will be recording hi-def through the "analog hole" between the dtv receiver and the TV. I'm OK with this if it's the only way.

Thoughts?

Re: Please recomend a TV Tuner Card

The PVR250 is ancient but a lot of us are still using them LOL.

I guess the question here is how much money do you want to spend? You can pick up an inexpensive MPEG2 capture card to get you by for now, or jump to the HDPVR but you are now at $250. I have one and the recordings look great compared to the MPEG2 captures.

If you really think you will go HD soon then go for the HDPVR, but if you think you might hold off for a while then I'd consider a cheap MPEG2 card. Haven't looked in a while but I think I've seen them for under $50 at times. That's a big cost delta to consider.

Where are you getting your information?
See my sig, all I do is record OTA HD and one of my tuners is the PVR-1600. Your statement is categorically false!
