Re: BTVD3DSHELL is not responding
Oh we've heard of it. I'm guessing nobody is responding because you really haven't given anything for us to troubleshoot. That error could be caused by literally anything unless you can provide more details to exclude. Ergo any solution we provide you could yield no improvement.
Are you the administrator on the machine? What hardware are you running? What tuners? Are there any system errors or critical errors being logged in BTV and in Windows at the time these issues happen? As for your setup/reboot woes. All those settings are kept in C:/Users/all users/app data/snapstream/btv (I think, not on a vista machine at the moment). You can copy that entire directory and replace it if somehow that happens again. But the settings could be due to limited privileges, or could be hardware, or could be bad installation.

Re: BTVD3DSHELL is not responding
For the BTV log, you can pull that up in the web admin. There is a link to it on the left side nav.

Re: BTVD3DSHELL is not responding
Open a web browser on the BTV machine. type http://localhost:8129. That's the web admin. Below the main part of the left navigation section, there is a subsection that is labeled Management. You will see a View Log link there.

1) State your video card version and date of driver, you might want to get it updated to a newer version. 2) Do the same as #1, but this time for audio driver 3) update BTV to the latest stable public version, 4.8.2. 4.4.0 is really an old version, and I would imagine that would not be entirely Vista compatible. Do you have power management turned on, if so does it turn off power to the video or audio components? Your BTV logs will be located in the following path: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\SnapStream\Beyond TV\log"

Re: BTVD3DSHELL is not responding
I can definitely say that there are newer Nvidia drivers available; however, I had the 7300 LE at one time...and I discovered that the card worked best with the original driver set.
