Hi-Def Video Capture Card
I have an old Pentium 4 1.7 that I use as a DVR. Currently, it has a standard-def BT848 tuner and it is only capable of encoding video at 320x240; higher resolutions max out the CPU.
I have a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD, and I've been able to set up the firewire to change channels, but have not been successful at capturing video through firewire. I was wondering if there were any HD video capture cards with component input and an onboard MPEG-2 encoder to reduce CPU usage (MPEG-4 would be even better). The capture card needs to work with BTV, of course.

Re: Hi-Def Video Capture Card
You might as well place an advanced order for the Hauppauge HD-PVR.

Re : Hi-Def Video Capture Card
Probably need to upgrade the PC to playback the h.264 recordings...
