Going from analog cable to directv

First, I searched but there are still a few questions I'm unclear on.

Right now I have BTV running with a PVR-150 card, tuning my analog cable. (I'm also using a USB-UIRT and Eventghost with my Harmony remote).

Communistcast is raising their rates in my area, so I'm considering going to DirectTV.

I assume I'll need just the basic STB (I'm not taking HD), connect it to my PVR-150 via s-video, and the audio to my sound card.

So far so good?

My big concern is tuning the STB, do I need any extra hardware for my UIRT or software, etc?

TIA!

[EDIT]
I did some more reading. It appears BTV will use my UIRT directly to control the STB.

But do I need to buy an extra emitter for the UIRT to stick on the STB, or does it just looking out
into my room work good enough?

Re: Going from analog cable to directv

You don't need any more hardware. My USB IRT just bounces the signal off the walls and my Motorola box picks it up. Depending on what STB you get you might be able to use firewire or serial tuning (if the STB has those ports active).

Audio should be going into the PVR-150.

I'm glad you mentioned that! I had forgotten I had to hack my PVR-150 (desoldered and removed the bottom most audio jack). In my SFF build the only free PCI slot had a capacitor at the end of the slot that got in the way of the card seating.

I wonder if it *could* work thru the sound card. I would think the card couldn't encode the audio with the video then.

You would have no audio on your video...and probably hear it live on the speakers (depending which input) as it is recording the video feed.
