BTV Playback of .MOV Videos

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to tweak BTV to playback QuickTime .mov files within BTV?

I've searched the forums and wasn't able to find anything for BTV. I know you can tweak BM to playback .mov files. But I prefer to stay in BTV and simply drop a video file into a BTV folder, and playbcak without having to start up the resource hog BM.

Thanks for any advice and insight.

Re: BTV Playback of .MOV Videos

No, I do not believe BTV will play .mov files. What I do is use a free video converter and convert them. It is a very fast process with "Free Video Converter"

http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html - Note: You have to click on the free video converter link on the left side.

I use it to convert the .mov files that my still camera creates and put them into BTV.

Thanks for the reply. I use MediaCoder to do my conversions. And I do that as well for things I want to keep. I was just hoping I could find some way to play these directly when they are short video podcasts and I delete them right away.

Thanks for the tip and link though.

Are you using BTVPodatcher? It won't help you with the playing of .mov files but it is an awesome BTV addon to auto download and tag podcasts.

Yes I am. That's the main reason for this inquiry. It's a great addon. But for short podcasts, it's not worth the trouble to do the conversion. I just want to quickly watch them and then delete them.

My solution is usually to find an MPG or MP4 version of the podcast. But in some cases that's getting harder. I'm finding the vidcasts are often cattering to the ipod formats more and more. And I have limited luck also with WMV playback in BTV on my system as well. The video doesn't always resume after a pause.
