Recording Preferences won't let me change the default quality of WMV format

I am trying to simply change the default recording quality of Window Media Format from
http://localhost:8129/SetupRecordingPreferences.aspx

And everytime I try to move it to some other format, it automatically moves me back to "Near VHS"

I have two capture cards, a PVR-250 and an ATI HDWonder card.
The PVR-250 does MPEG captures great. However when I record using the ATI HDWonder card, the quality isn't as good (software encoded) and I am not even sure if it is trying to do MPEG encoding.

So I assumed that since it is an ATI card, it might be defaulting to WMV quality settings even though I have selected to use MPEG (BEST).

Can someone shed some light on this.

Thanks
- J

Re: Recording Preferences won't let me change the default quality of WMV format

It's been a long time since I used an ATI capture card, and that one was not one of them. But I'd be tempted to remove that card as a capture source for BTV and then see what happens when you try to change the default format.

Let us know how this works out, as someone else is bound to have that problem again someday.

Re: Recording Preferences won't let me change the default quality of WMV format

I have default set to mpeg (best) right now, but I am just not sure the ATI capture card is using those settings. The qualify is subpar, but I already knew that. I think it maybe taking the WMV settings even though I have selected to use MPEG encoding.
hmmmmmm.
