650 USB (Live TV)

I'm looking at purchasing a new TV Tuner & I have a genuine interest in the ATI 650 USB Combo or the 600 USB as it offers quite a few options but because of my job requiring travel I need a solution that supports the Web Admin Live TV Function.

I've read a couple of articles that says the card does both but there is some confusion... Would I be able to stream with this card? I'm 3 days into my search and all Googled out (LOL)..

Anyway, I've been running snapstream for several years & each time I upgrade to a new version the developers here have fullfiled a great many wish lists!!! Other application developers should follow snapstreams model!!!

Thanks In Advance

Re: 650 USB (Live TV)

Xing101, I see that you are considering the ATI 650. I've tried a few different brands and models and settled in with the ATI 650 PCI & ATI 650 PCIe cards. They are based on the ATI Theater 650 chip which was specifically designed for home theater applications. I also drive my 37" LCD with a Radeon x1650Pro video card and I can't believe the results. The image is color corrected, jagged edges are fixed, the soft focus is sharpened, noise and herringbone is removed, etc. The recorded image actually looks better, clearer, sharper than the native cable set top box display. I know, I sound like a poster boy for ATI but after using cards from different vendors, with my combo of hardware, I'll stick with the ATI Theater 650 technology. This may not work for everyone, but it works for me. Good luck with yours.

Re: 650 USB (Live TV)

I guess the real question would be if the card can do software & Hardware encoding?

For my application needs (Software / Hardware Encoding Required). If I put it on my desktop & watch it through web admin or 2 if I bring it with me. Either is fine because my notebook is not that great... No HD like screen & the compression options in snapstream can be perfected for my use...
