Question Using the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 & clear-QAM channels and Beyond TV

I'm having some problems getting in-house digital clear-QAM cable TV channels to be picked up in the channel line-ups in Beyond TV version 4.8.1.

My tuner card is the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 card with the dual analog & digital tuners. It says that it is enabled to receive clear-QAM channels, and if I use Hauppauge's software I can receive those channels, but I can't get them in Beyond TV.

Anyone else out there have this setup??

That's because currently BTV only supports clear QAM on the HDHomeRun...

Hmmm, that is too bad. Do you know if SnapStream has any plans to incorporate support for Clear-QAM channels using other hardware devices than the HDHomeRun box?

Welcome to the club Doc. The band-aid method to do QAM recording on the HVR-1600/HVR-1800 relies on the WinTV application and simply does not work (issues with the WinTV app).

SageTV natively supports QAM on those cards and it's really a matter of do I want to go and pay them $80 for their product as well.

Snapstream - get on the ball or lose a customer (ie: I don't buy other products from you or 5.0 upgrades if I go elsewhere)!

Snapstream IS working on QAM support for Hauppauge cards. I've read the beta notes about it and didn't say which version will have it (currently beta is 4.8.2...maybe QAM will be in 4.9?). I did see a screen shot of QAM lineup which looks promising.

Hang in there, it's coming.

I am pleased that they are working on support, but I have to defend them a bit. It is COMMON knowledge that clearQAM is currently only supported with the HDHomerun. A simple search here or reading their supported tuners page would have made that absolutely clear.

It's not Snapstream's fault when a user doesn't do their homework prior to a tuner purchase.

The HDHomerun works flawlessly.
