Does anyone know where and how BTV stores recoding information. This is the information that holds the time, channel etc information. So for instance for the Simpson's it would hold Sunday, 8:00pmEST etc
I have done some HD changes lately and I am getting a destination folder not found error and I would like ot fix in one pass. I have been looking at the WebUI and it seems to disregard the real source. So it used to record to e:\tv and no goes to f:\ but I think the UI realizes the error nad tries to fix it but only goes as far as fixing on the screen. If I check this file(s) and can determine for sure |

Re : Where/how does BTV store recording data
Using the ViewScape, go to Setup Recordings --> Setup Recordings and Priorities, all your Recording jobs are there, so you can correct for the new path...

Re: Where/how does BTV store recording data
Foncer, thanks but I am hoping for the actual XML or DBF name that way I can read the real values.
My suspicion is that viewscape is showing incorrect values. If I look at a file called recentRecordings it has incorrect values there (differ than what viewscape says) I am looking for a similar file but representing the actual recording show data |

Re : Where/how does BTV store recording data
The actual file is Jobs.xml in the same folder as the other .xml files, and the property you want is MountPointName... You would need to shutdown BTV before editing that file manually. But as I said, the other method would be the proper way to update it, though I seem to remember that you can't easily find the bad folder that way...

Well I can now confirm there is a bug (of some sort) in BTV with regards to managing destination folders when folders/drives are changed. I have three bad entries in my job.xml file. One points the mountPointName to a drive name and two others point to the "pool" entry. I deleted the pool when I upgraded one of the drives to 1Tb and changed BTV to only use the root of the "F:\" drive recordings. It seems that BTV does not fix every entry when doing such changes.
Further looking at the same entry through the webadmin reveals "Default" not the "Pool" entry in the Job.xml file. So this means that you cannot normally determine or fix the error if you don;lt hack the file. BTW does viewscape even show where to record to? I could not see it. Some other interesting findings (read bugs) while searching this file. RecordAnyChannel although set to "Yes" in webGUI is false throughout this file. I had not realized this was not set but if the engine respects this variable then it does not look across channels for recordings Last questions (and too many for a single thread but I am on a roll) what is the variable GUIDQuality for? I have two entries that are set to "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" Which looks suspiciously like a regular GUID (meaning Global Unique Identifier). Can anyone explain the meaning of the variable and these two entries. I would hazard a guess that this file is populated from multiple places (not normalized) as the entries it are not regularly populated. Fields like "Genre" are not all populated. just to be clear we add all recordings through Viewscape, WebGUI or as remote recordings - no manual set up. Hope this helps others and that others can help me Last edited by Phill Moran; 05-05-2008 at 08:56 PM. Reason: Spell check |
