Convert: what format to send Overseas

Hey folks, I've got a request from my daughter in military asking for Jeporady, Wheel of Fortune, etc... I'm trying to find best format to send to her. When I use BTV4 what format is best to save shows in so I can put a bunch on DVD and send her to watch on her computer? Appreciate your help in advance, kind of new to this stuff.

Thanks.

If she's using a Windows computer, she should be able to play wmv files without installing any codecs.

Try that.

Re: Convert: what format to send Overseas

A standard DVD will work fine if she has the codec in Windows Media Player, or if she has a DVD player program.

Of course, if she has a DVD player, this will play it too. Most players made in the last few years play NTSC and PAL DVDs and programs you make from TV will be region free.

I have had great success sending standard DVDs to Europe. DVD+R and DVD+R DL.

Re: Convert: what format to send Overseas

I am basically doing the same thing except I am downloading the files over the internet. I think picture quality would be better with DivX or Xvid. BTV will automatically showsqueeze to DivX and there is an add-in that I use for Xvid. Here is a link to the thread:

[addon] AutoXvid (November 12 Update)

DivX is a fairly standard codec and is probably already on her computer. The Xvid codec is better quality / file size in my opinion, but would probably require a download.
