Recording Format

I have recenty reinstalled btv and i cant change the recording format from mpeg2. I am fairly certain that there were a couple of other recordinig formats in there before like. wmv and avi or divx. can anyone help?

Re: Recording Format

Wait, now is this the function of showsqueeze? to convert to divx? so this would mean that the program can only record in mpeg2 format and then convert? am i getting this right? and if so wouldnt it be quicker...sorry, one thing at a time..

Re: Recording Format

If you are using one of the Hauppauge tuners with hardware encoding, you will only have variations of Mpeg-2 available. That is all that hardware encoder can do.

If you have a software encoder like some of the older ATI All In Wonder tuner cards, then you have more options. What tuner(s) are you using?

Once you have an mpeg show recorded you can then use the showsqueeze option to re-encode to Divx, etc

Those tuners without built in hardware encoders (mpeg-2) that record directly to WMV etc. are very processor intensive. It is more desirable to use a hardware encoder if at all possible.
