MCEbuddy: automatic MPG comskip & wmv/divx encoding

Hello ...

A bit in reply to this thread ...

Step by Step: Video fixing, Commercial Detection, and Removal.
Step by Step: Video fixing, Commercial Detection, and Removal.

I was really surprised that a search on the snapstream forums didn't
give any hit with "MCEbuddy".

MCEbuddy was obviously developed for MCE, but it's working very well
for my set-up of BTV 3.7.4.

The program runs in the tray (just add a link to your startup folder to
start it at boot time)
and it detects any new video file in your BTV recording directory.

Check the "File selection" checkbox and enter "*.mpg" as value.

It will then automatically run comskip (with the settings from your ini file).

And it gives the option for two conversions (e.g. wmv and divx) to two
separate directories while cutting out the commercials.

Furthermore, it gives the option to process your video files at certain
times, and to delete the source file.
Check it out ... it impressed me.

There is both a x32 and x64 version.

Not bad sounding at all.. the cutting and compression sounds interesting, but it obviously wouldn't keep any of the btv meta-data so that show information would still be displayed, etc. I guess it depends on how you end up using it.

Thanks for sharing.

I assume if there is enough interest, we could ask for "BTVbuddy" with special features for BTV

Re: MCEbuddy: automatic MPG comskip & wmv/divx encoding

joined the forum so I could chime in on this program, it takes a little tweeking and trial and error but once you get it right it is a blast to use. I don't use the comercial skip feature because I can do the job manuelly better but it does the job pretty well. I am planning on recording college football in the fall and wanted to get this ironed out before hand. was frustrated that the WMC didn't allow for settings changes but once I researched it is a great program, shrinks the size of it to fit a regular +R disk, recorded a 1 hour show and edited out the commercials in WMM, authored it in WDVD maker and according to it I could have fitted almost enough time for 2 additional hours of show and the quality was excellent. this should handle a edited game with ease. Highly recommend it to all Vista WMC owners/video philes.
