Feature Request: Automatic downconvert from HD to SD in DVD BurnPlugin
I watch all my shows using DVD sneakernet since purchasing DVDs is much cheaper than shelling out $500 for a new HTPC. I recently ditched cable and started recording OTA/HD (free).
All this transcoding is starting to wear my patience down. Would you please consider adding support for HD to SD downconversion without having to show-squeeze first. The files on my computer have a TP4 extension. I use a TheaterPro 650 PCI card. I occasionally like to watch the HD shows on my computer, so I do not want to record to SD. Lastly, Would you please consider adding support for burning Blu-Ray DVDs now that HD-DVD is moving towards dinosaur status. Hopefully, Blu-Ray DVD prices will drop from ~$14 a disk to under $1 in near future. Blu-Ray burners can now be purchased for ~$400. This combination allow watching HD shows at your convenience. |

You might want to look at this program: HDTV2DVD
It is a freebee and will convert a .TP file to a DVD. It is a one step operation from a BTV TP file to a DVD ready to burn. I use the full version SVCD2DVD which does the same thing and a whole lot more. Get it here:http://www.svcd2dvd.com/HDTV2DVD/ John |

Re: Feature Request: Automatic downconvert from HD to SD in DVD BurnPlugin
I believe we lose the commercial skip if we do that, though :-(
I was also curious about this issue. It can take many hours for my machine to convert from a .TP file to a SD format. This doesn't do much good when I would like to burn something to a DVD within an hour or so of wanting to watch it somewhere. I can't wait for blu-ray burners. Just imagine not having to convert at all... |

Yes that is true. Of course you could run it through VideoRedo first to get rid of the commercials. >> I would like to burn something to a DVD within an hour or so << Doubt if you could (for a 1 hour show) Remove commercials-Convert to DVD-Burn to DVD in an hour. Superfast Quad Core might do it. Never really timed it on my system. After removing commercials I just let SVCD2DVD run, then burn at a later time. John |
