Intel Xeon vs. AMD Athlon X2

I have an HP workstation xw8000 as my BTV server. I was thinking of upgrading to the AMD Athlon 6400+ Black edition. How does this Athlon compare to my Xeon's? I have the dual Xeon 2.6Ghz processors, which shows up as 4 procs in windows and 2GB RAM. How would these compare with the 6400+ and 2GB RAM? Is it worth the upgrade? or is it even an upgrade? Thanks in advance!

Re: Intel Xeon vs. AMD Athlon X2

So, this is what I did.

Asus M2N SLI Deluxe
AMD 6400+
XFX 8600GT
4 GB RAM
500 GB HDD

This new system is considerably faster. Guide updates that took near an hour now take around 20 minutes. Launching BTV is now 5 seconds compared to 60 seconds. Before, watching live tv on a tuner that started a recording would freeze for 5 seconds as it started recording now just flashes. I have a whole new system that rocks! I even overclocked the cpu to 3.6Ghz. So the comparison it quite substantial. Just an FYI.

I've never had guide updates take anywhere near even 15 minutes, if that, it's usually less than 5. What's your internet connection speed?
