Recording "NEW" Shows at their later airing

Whenever I setup BTV to record all NEW airings of a given program it always records the first airing of that program. Sometimes this causes problems when BTV then schedules three shows at the same time (I only have two Tuner cards). How can I adjust BTV so that program "A" records it's New programs during it's second showing at 10 PM on Friday instead of the 7 PM first airing? Both are listed in the Program Guide as NEW, but I can't get BTV to schedule ALL new episodes at the later airings and have to manually set it up each week (which kinda defeats the purpose).

make program A a lower priority than the conflicting shows.

Re: Recording "NEW" Shows at their later airing

If you use record "all' instead of record "new" - does that solve your problem?

BTV's usually pretty good at spotting that it can catch a later recording, but if you've got your recording jobs set to record "new' not 'all' then it can only choose from the original airing of the show that is first marked as new by the broadcaster. The repeat showings are usually tagged 'repeat' and will onyl be chosen if you do a 'record all' setting.

You won't (shouldn't ) get duplicates as SS will remember what shows it has recorded recently and skip repeats. Some of the daily /live shows had trouble but I recall a new setting added to btv that would let you handle 'generic' shows better too.

If you do set record all, then you should be able to juggle the priorities of the jobs to give hints as to which to record when too.

You can also set it to record at a certain time slot only.

Like gsinpei said, or to only record on a specific channel.

Re: Recording "NEW" Shows at their later airing

I have had the exact opposite problem with BTV. There are certain shows that I would like to record the first chance it gets, but BTV was waiting till almost the last possible chance. Entourage was one example. It was the top priority show, but it would record lower priority shows on Sunday night and want to wait to record Entourage at the end of the week. I really didn't like this because although my IR laster was pretty reliable it would screw up from time to time. I would rather have those extra chances to record if it screws up.

Re: Recording "NEW" Shows at their later airing

I will give the lower priority a try to see how that works out.

Selecting ALL instead of NEW isn't a viable option due to the number of daytime reruns of old episodes (tried that already).

As for manually setting it to record at the same time each week, that defeats the purpose of BTV and would force me to double check that there is a new episode each week as well as needing to determine if they had changed the day or time for a new episode. I've been traveling a lot lately and don't have always on Internet so I can't remotely schedule something

Another confirmation on using 'priorities' to solve this one. That's what I always do. Juggling priorities usually straightens away any conflicts for me.
