New machine having issues: File tagging failed

Howdy all,

I upgraded to a new computer over Christmas and have had a series of problems with BTV since. I upgraded from an Athlon 64 4000+ to what's in my sig below. The old machine had, dare I say, a nearly flawless BTV setup. I guess I shouldn't have fixed what wasn't broken, but I wanted more hard drive space and the ability to showsqueeze two shows at once with a dual-core processor. I am using the same tuners that were in my old setup, so I know those work.

Originally, I put the latest version of BTV (4.7.1) on my system, but for some reason I was having problems with the HD tuner not being recognized every few days, giving me an "unable to start Live TV" message and also not recording scheduled shows (identical to the problems of this thread.) I then reverted back to 4.5, which I used on the old system and no problems with. This cured the random missing HD tuner problem, but has given me some new issues, nothing life-shattering like a missed recording but still annoying. Whatever the problem is with File Tagging, it is not allowing me to showsqueeze or smartskip. Here's a screenshot below of today's recordingings. You can see that the file tagger problem happens with both my ATI tuner (mpg) and Dvico (tp). This didn't seem to happen with 4.7.1, but then again it didn't happen on my old 4.5 setup either, and I'd rather deal with this than more missed recordings with 4.7.1. Any thoughts?

Re: New machine having issues: File tagging failed

So no one has ever had this issue? Wonder how I got so lucky...

Re: New machine having issues: File tagging failed

I did a google search and found this:

also, are you running any internet security programs on the computer?

Re: New machine having issues: File tagging failed

Thanks for your efforts in looking. It appears as if the problems in that post are slightly different, although the result is the same (no post-processing). In the logs entered for that post, the file tagging itself was successful.

I have no internet security on the machine. I do have AVG virus protection installed, though I also had that with the old machine and it seemed to cause no problem.

Re: New machine having issues: File tagging failed

Never could figure out what the issue was, so I decided to go back to the latest (4.7.1) version as it worked before, and it fixed whatever the problem was with the guide data being inserted into the xml file (Snapstream tech support presumed that was the issue and I agree). So now here's hoping my HD tuner doesn't randomly disappear again...been going for a week now without issue, so maybe that problem too went away.
