Feature Request - Setup Reminders

Hey there BTV Team

There is two features I would like to request, not sure if it would be possible but it's worth a shot.

1. Lets say you go to your tv guide and there is a show starting at 9pm and it's only 7pm and you are watching tv now but want to be reminded that the show is coming up like 5 min or so before the start at 9pm. So what would happen is you would have a popup reminding you that your show at 9pm is about to start.

2. If you have created a folder and put all your movies into it and you switch to this folder and have like 300 movies. Couldn't we have a search feature built into this ?

These would be excellent features.

Thanks for your time

you misunderstood. I am not going back To Vista media Center as long as DRM exists within Media center. I am just stating that the feature is a good one and I liked it.

Re: Feature Request - Setup Reminders

It's a good feature but somewhat redundant.

If you schedule the job to record - then if you have only one tuner you'll get a dialog prompting whether to change channel etc or not ; or if you have more than one tuner you can carry one watching you are watching now and just go watch the recording later anyway.

The pop up is really only relevant to folks who need to watch live tv as and when it happens. Once you get out of that mindset and just watch video when you want to instead, you can already do what you want. kinda.

As to #2; yeah, some kind of search option could be useful when you have it all in one folder. There may be something coming for this

Community Web Admin (probably not the solution you are looking for), does support searching by way of filtering.

I don't agree with the above. I think it would be a useful feature to have. I have 2 cards (1600's) so if I am watching live tv and I want to be reminded of another show that is starting it should pop up and say "hey this show on this channel is about to start would you like to switch to this channel that's how it should work

But as merrypig said, since you are already watching something and that the other show is going to be recorded anyway, why would you care?

Re: Feature Request - Setup Reminders

as I said "The pop up is really only relevant to folks who need to watch live tv as and when it happens"...

You're clearly one of the folks who 'need to watch live tv' still.

I don't claim that your usage is wrong, just pointing out that it's not necessarily the most common usage model for pvr setups since half the point is to get away from watching live and watching on your own schedule without commercials etc.

Re: Feature Request - Setup Reminders

Actually now that i look at it merrypig you are correct. BUT i still think #2 of my original statement is a good point.. Cause i have 590 divx movies which doesn't include my recorded shows.

You could create sub-folders and enable the "Recurse SubDirectories" in the web admin for that(those) folder(s), then use the "Folder view" in the ViewScape to make it more manageable, until SnapStream comes up with some sorting/filtering...
