UHF TV - scheduling ?s

I'm new to this and trying to understand how this fits into my scenario.
I'm receiving my TV signal from a local UHF tower. The signal is scrambled and goes through an obsolete Zenith box. I do receive some other unscrambled signals as well. Programming is translated to UHF from Minneapolis/St Paul network TV for the most part. Also have Discovery channel.
Will the TV guide do me any good for programming?
Recording through a tuner card does me no good - my cable box channels will need to be changed by the software. Can this be done?

Thanks,
Lance O.

Re: UHF TV - scheduling ?s

More details on your STB will help. Exact model, does it have a remote, What connections from the STB to your tuner card are you using? There are lots of ways to do what you want but it depends if your "obsolete" STB is supported by any of them.

Re: UHF TV - scheduling ?s

It's a Zenith ST2600. It does have a remote.

Re: UHF TV - scheduling ?s

Judging by google, it is really ancient. An IR blaster (ggogle it to see how it works) like USB IRT should do what you want (ie have BTV send a signal to the Zenith STB to change the channel). The problem is getting/developing the necessary config files. If your STB is supported, the necessary files are available, if not, you need to develop these files. There are ways to "teach" the usbirt the IR codes for your box, but I have never done it and I believe it has a high geek factorMaybe they can help you at the USB IRT site.

Somebody with a lot more knowledge than me might chime in,

BB
