Exclamation BTV does not connect to Video folder

My BTV has been working fine until I downloaded the newest version
now when I go to recorded shows it is blank and says "POPULATING LIBRARY"
and nothing happens.
I also can't log into the Localhost 8219
I also can't connect with my BTV LINK error message is "can't connect to server"
I also keep getting a warning that something is using port 8130
I have everything closed and I shut down my Firewall and I still keep getting that error
My programs are being "Taped" but I have to watch them with Windows Media
Please HELP

Jacob

Re: BTV does not connect to Video folder

Are you sure the windows firewall isn't on (assuming you have a third party firewall installed like ZoneAlarm) ?

Re: BTV does not connect to Video folder

Which version were you originally running. I could be wrong here, but you may want to check to see which version of *.net Framework you are using and if it has all the latest Windows updates and patches for it. Somewhere along the line SS required Framework to be upgraded to version 2.

If that is the problem, I'd back up my BTV, upgrade to *.net Framework 2.0 and then re-install BTV.

If you are already running 2.0 then I'm out of ideas.

<edit> Opps. Disregard all the above. (maybe) I just checked the Framework thing myself and could find no reference to you actually "needing" vs 2 over vs 1.1 For some reason I seem to remember when digital tuner support was started (HD OTA) that Framework vs 2 was required. But I may have been thinking about Windows SP2. However, all references to Framework in the Knowledge Base seem to be dated no later than 2005.

Re: BTV does not connect to Video folder

Pretty sure that you need .Net2.0 for v4.71 Can somebody confirm. Just install it, no need to remove Net 1.0

BB

Edit: Yup !!
BTV 4.7 requires .net framework v 2.0 all previous versions of BTV .net framework v1.0
Having some issues

Re: BTV does not connect to Video folder

Well how about that? I must have been correct in my assumption. BUT, I'm pretty sure if you take a look at the "system requirements" pages, there isn't any mention of needing net Framework 2.0 ???

Unless I missed it ? Anyway SS should update their minimum requirements if indeed you need Framework 2.0 for the latest version of BTV. I'm referencing this page:

http://www.snapstream.com/products/beyondtv/sysreq.asp

Which doesn't mention *.net 2.0 OR 1.1 at all.

Re: BTV does not connect to Video folder

Rich
"Old Timers" disease as my kids call it??

You must have unstalled it at some point when you were testing/running 4.7x. Now that I think about it, when I tried to install 4.71 it checked and told me I needed to install .net framework 2.0 . Of course I may be wrong, cuz of "old timers"

So jacob, if you don't have v2.0 you need it, and if you do have it, maybe one of the zillion or so files that make up .net framework 2.0 is borked and a reinstall might get you working. Unless .net framework is not the issue.
