I have 4.7 and get poor sound on playback and burnt DVD's sometimes. It sounds like it is not recording the voice channel correctly maybe? I have to turn up the base and turn down the treble and sit close to here it correctly. It is just the voice that I do not get. It does not happen to every recording. Sorry if this makes no sense but it is the best description I can come up with. Maybe I am missing the center channel in recordings? I have an AMD dual core system with WinTV250 and auduigy gamer sound card on an ESS KV2 motherboard with nvida 6200 video card. Windows XP Pro OS. I read the support page and searched for this problem but did not find this exact problem. It has to be a setting in the sound somewhere I guess? Any suggestions for me?

Re: Poor sound playbck
Are you using a 6-channel surround setup (5.1)? If so, change your speaker settings to 2-channel stereo and play your files/DVDs again. How does it sound? If the voice tracks in stereo are playing back fine then it is probably your speaker setup/soundcard configuration.

Re: Poor sound playbck
If at all possible, disable your soundcard, I know most newer motherboards have built in sound support, so you should be able to figure out if its your soundcard (settings probably) or something else.
At a minimum, just turn all features and just have the output go out via plain vanilla 2 channel (stereo) output like Chillspace advised. |

Re: Poor sound playbck
This sounds like a good idea to try. I have been working too many hours to get back to it this week. I do have onboard sound and will try taking out the creative card. Thanks

Re: Poor sound playbck
Well I have not figured this out yet. I have removed my sound card and modem. Updated every driver I can think of. I have found some post of the same problem by others. The center channel is very low volume. I have to turn the volume all the way up to hear it. The background music is blasting out but the voice is low. Same thing for live TV too? Any ideas on this?
