BTV questions

Greetings all,

I’m considering this product, but I have some questions. I hoping the BTV community can shed some light.

- My searches on the forums regarding Closed Caption have yielded large responses, mostly on the non-HD tuners. Will I have any issues with CC running the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 and Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600?

- This will be connected to a home theater system. I’m thinking about getting an X-Fi Creative card and pumping it out to a multi-channel input A/V receiver. Is this a bad idea or over kill?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Re: BTV questions

I too wonder the same thing about the 1800. I own the 1600 and CC does work on it. However, it seems CC does NOT work on the 1800. I hope I am wrong but so far it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Re: BTV questions

I think 1800 couldn't support CC.

Re: BTV questions

I sent an e-mail to Hauppauge and they said the 1800 does not support CC which is a disappointment for me because this card works very well with OTA stuff.

I don't know if CC is a license fee issue or not but if it is I'd be willing to pay extra for it.

Guess I will have to send the card back and wait for the next version... 1850?
