Need remote control recommendation for BTV

I'm looking for a remote control (not keyboard) for BTV. What's the best one to get?

My only requirement is that it must have lighted keys. It could be either IR or RF. It would be nice if it could use the internal USB header on the mobo so as to eliminate the external dongle. Thanks.

I use a Logitech Harmony 659 pointed at a USB-UIRT.

Works great.....

I use a Harmony 550 and I really like it. I use the firefly mini IR receiver.

Re: Need remote control recommendation for BTV

I thought BTV recognizes only a handful of remotes and USB-UIRT/Harmony is not one of them. What software do you need to install in order to make BTV setup wizard recognize the USB-UIRT/Harmony in the Select Remote Model screen?

What I really want is a simple remote control like the Firefly (but with lighted keys) that will allow me to navigate BTV in FSUI mode. I don't need to control a settop box. Will USB-UIRT/Harmony do what I want? I apologize for not being clear in my original query. Thanks.

Re: Need remote control recommendation for BTV

As far as BTV is concerned I have no remote. I use HIP to read the signals from the USB-UIRT and convert them into keypresses.

Read post # 5 for the program but BTV setup wizard is not used.

It does what I want and more. BTV supports USB-uirt for sending not receiving.

Re: Need remote control recommendation for BTV

I had an ATI Remote Wonder II laying around that does the trick, but a Firefly is on the way with my BTV purchase. I suspect it'll get my attention.

Re: Need remote control recommendation for BTV

I use my Harmony 890 Pro with the IMON receiver. Unfortunately, the My.TV IR blaster doesn't work properly under Vista and so I just ordered a USB-UIRT, which will be mainly used as an IR blaster versus a receiver.

Re: Need remote control recommendation for BTV

I think I will go with the Firefly Mini for its IR receiver and use my cheap (but with lighted keys) universal remote control.

Thanks everyone.

Re: Need remote control recommendation for BTV

For those interested, I saw Dell selling the Harmony 880 for $119 at the local mall. Is this the same model as the one that is listed for $249 at many retailers? If so, then this seems to be a tremendous deal.

The sale appears to have ended. The price is now back up to $199.
