Question Cable or Sattelite TV

Hi all,
Having recently finished my HTPC / BeyondTV server and purchasing a Sony 60" HDTV, I am now noting that the QAM channels I get from my local cable co are very limited, there are many channels such as TBS HD etc that are commercial based channels but must be being encrypted by my cable co as I cannot tune them with HDHR, I also note that there are only a total of about 12 total HD channels I can get all together, seeing the ads for 70+ HD channels, soon to be 100 from Satellite TV providers I am considering switching service providers but am unsure if BTV can tune any of those channels in HD. All in all I am not unhappy with the service from my cable co, but am not estactic about it either and am wondering what other BTV users think or have to offer as I consider switching.

Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Cable or Sattelite TV

Satellite does NOT use QAM!!! So, your HDHR will be useless unless you do OTA.

Re: Cable or Sattelite TV

You cannot record HD from cable box or sat box in full HD. You can record it via RCA/s vid but it will be at 480i only and does not look great played back on an HD TV.

It absolutely does look great. I record shows like this all the time, and looks great on my HDTV. It is not HD, but MUCH better than recording SD.
