Question Keep Until I Delete

Edit... "Sorry, should have posted this in the Troubleshooting forum."

I have setup several recordings for shows in syndicate that occurs multiple times per day. I only want to keep two episodes of each show at a time, however, I don't want the most recent two but rather the first two. How can I configure this recording to behave this way?

I understand that I can mark a single episode as "Keep Until I Delete", however, I'm not exactly sure how this affects the recording. If I mark both as "Keep Until I Delete" will it stop recording them until I delete one? If so, I suppose I could manage this manually, however, if there was an automatic way to manage this it would be very helpful as I have several of these. Also, if this were the case, it would be ideal if I could mark a folder as "Keep Until I Delete". Then any shows that get put in this folder would manage themselves.

I've found other threads of users asking for similar behavior, but I have seen no solution as of yet. Any ideas?

Re: Keep Until I Delete

I've discovered that when you mark a file as "Keep Until I Delete" it actually makes the file Read Only in the file system. I tried making the folder "Read Only" hoping this would apply to all files in the folder, however, that is not the case. Apparently each file needs to have this setting manually applied after it is created.

Anyone know any good way of automating this?

Re: Keep Until I Delete

OK,

As of 4.7.1, there is recording at a timeslot feature... you can specify that you only want to record a show at a particular time on a particular channel...

setup recordings->search by keyword->select show ... last option is record in this timeslot (or something like that).

This will let you specify which ones of hte 4 a day you actually want to record instead of recording all 4 and coming up with a way to delete the ones you don't want.

Does this help?

Geoff

Re : Keep Until I Delete

As mentioned, using the timeslot option of BTV 4.7.1 is most likely the best solution. Otherwise, take a look at the following thread for another way:

Combined "Max Shows"/"Keep Until I delete it" Feature!

from a command prompt (start/run/cmd or find in the programs menu):

CD C:\BTV (or whatever folder)
attrib +r *.tp (for tp files)
attrib +r *.avi (for avis)
attrib +r *.mpg (I think you got the idea now)
exit
