pids & VideoRedo

I've noticed that sometimes when using VideoRedo to edit a HD program it opens the wrong pid. Smart chapters also scans the wrong pid. Is there a reason that smart chapters is scanning the wrong pid? It does not happen on every show. But it seems to only occur on one station. I've only seen it on channel 1071.

Thanks
RAC

Re : pids & VideoRedo

You should run snipstream before editing in VideoReDo, to get rid of the extra streams... As for the smartchapter on the wrong stream, you should fill out a bug report...

Re: pids & VideoRedo

IS it a bug? Videoredo opens up the .ts file and displays 7-2 rather than 7-1. smart chapters scans 7-2 rather than 7-1. If its a bug then both programs have the same problem.

It would be nice if smart chapters allowed you to specify the pid rather than take the first pid it sees.

Thanks

SmartChapters is supposed to use BTV's metadata to pick the correct stream. If you're going to process the .tp outside of BTV, it's best to let StreamSnip delete the extra streams out of the file. Since it is a part of BTV, it also understands the metadata and won't kill the stream that you wanted to record.

Re: pids & VideoRedo

The problem is not so much processing the file outside of BTV but that BTV smart chapters processes the wrong pid. So when you open the .xml file as a project in videoredo its the wrong pid. Yes you can select the other pid. But now you have to manually scan for commericals or take the time for videoredo to scan. I think its faster to do it manually in these cases.

This doesn't match my experience ... whenever I use SmartChapters, it scans the correct PID. You should submit your issue to the bug tracker so SnapStream can nail down why yours isn't working.
