Mapping Guide Data for QAM?

I just set up my HDHR for the first time with BTV so that I can tune QAM. For the life of me, I couldn't get BTV to tune QAM on my system that has an AIW 7500. Some kind of device conflict. I'm curious if anyone has experienced similar trouble. For now, I have BTV on another system and the QAM tuning and recording works ok. I am en route to building a dedicated HTPC, so it's not critical to get it working on the AIW system...but I do want to have proof of concept before I sink in the cash for the HTPC.

Question: Is it possible to map guide data for QAM in BTV? For the most part, the QAM channels that I want to record are the major networks, ABC, NBC, FOX, etc. I can pull the snapstream.net guide data for my analog cable source, but has anyone been able to map guide data into a QAM lineup? Of course, I can always switch back and forth with couchville or snapstream.net and BTV, but that will not pass the wife-approval factor when I get the HTPC rolling. I'm guessing that even a copying script based on a scheduler would do the trick (if that's even possible).

Re : Mapping Guide Data for QAM?

Since the HDHR is a network device, how can you have a hardware conflict with another card? If you follow the instructions, it does tell you how to setup the lineup for it...

Re: Mapping Guide Data for QAM?

Mapping the guide data is pretty simple. The instructions are on the silicondust website. Just follow them and the channels will be in your guide.

I thought the same, but every time I would try to tune a QAM channel through BTV on that system, it would fail to initialize the stream and the log would cite a problem with my analog capture device, even though it was clear in my BTV setup that I was pulling from a digital source through my HDHR. That system has a 7500 All-in-Wonder. Tuning through VLC on the same system worked fine. That system had been my analog capture/recording computer to this point...but it will soon be phased out. It struggles to keep up with HD content.

Once I got BTV on a system that would pull QAM through BTV, it took some jockeying to get the lineup configured properly. I was initially led astray by outdated instructions that are still available in various places. And for some reason, sometimes BTV setup wouldn't pull my newly configured lineups from snapstream.net. It could definitely be a friendlier process, but at least it's working now.
