Really frustrated now...

I'm running BTV 4.7.1 on a XP Pro machine (with all updates) along with Mediaportal. The system runs great, and I decided to install a VFD display so I can see the status of BTV (recordings, etc) at a glance. I bought a Thermaltake (MediaLab) A2331 because of the BTV plugin that was available for LCD Smartie, which should also talk to my display. I installed the updated iMon software, so I can power-up and control the HTPC with the provided remote, but did not install the iMedian software, since I'm already using mediaportal as a frontend. The display works fine using the included software, even though the instructions and forum support is pretty lacking, but I cannot for the life of me get the LCD Smartie software (version 5.4) to interface with the display. The instructions are pretty vague on their website too. All I wanted was a display, not the brain-ache I've given myself. Please, if anyone has any insight that'll send me in the right direction, chime in. Thanx.

BTW....I'm a computer tech by trade, which makes this even more painful. I don't like machines kicking my arse!

Also.....I know I can use the VFDs remote to maneuver around BTV, but having to program in each shortcut key command is a real pain. Does anyone have a configuration I can import into the remote software? Thanx again!

Re: Really frustrated now...

I've never used it, but I think you're asking about this LCD Smartie Plugin for BTV?
[plugin] LCDSmartie Support for BTV (Sept 14 Update)

Re: Really frustrated now...

Yes.....I downloaded it and placed it in the plugins folder, along with the optional registry entries, but I cannot get LCD Smarties to even recognize the display....let alone get BTV to work with it. I know this isn't the LCD Smarties forum, but I was hoping someone here has worked with it before and had some words-of-wisdom.

Re : Really frustrated now...

I have used LCD-Smartie with a supported display (Matrix Orbital) and it was easy enough. But if your VFD is not already natively supported, their forums would really be the place to go... Since I found a post about the Thermaltake A2331, it does seem like you should be able to get it working, somehow...

Re: Really frustrated now...

I did get it working with fresh thoughts and help from forum members. Thanx you all!

Anyone have a BeyondTV setup I can import into the iMon Manager for remote control programming? Setting each keyboard shortcut by hand is going to take a while.
