Can't change quality?

Ok, did my searching, now for the dumb question.

I can't find anywhere to change the record quality setting, either in the web admin or the TV interface. I can see where you can edit the list of available qualities, but not where you can pick one for a recording.

For recording jobs already place, goto /SetupRecordings.aspx in webadmin. Then press edit next to the show. You can find to change the recording quality there.

For future jobs and default, /SetupRecordingPreferences.aspx

I looked at both of those, neither has any place to change recording quality.

What type of tuner card do you have and what is your recording source ?

Are you recording HD? If so, you can't change the quality. The card isn't encoding anything -- it just writes the stream to disk.

Yeah, that must be it then. I'm using the 1600, and recording OTA HD. Ok, dumb question answered - I wish docs were a teensy bit more detailed though.

yeah. The HD is usually streamed to your hard drive. You can use showsqueeze to change the format. However, may take a long time depending on your computer. Even if its a fast mama-jama computer it may take some time.
