A HDHR question.

I want to get the HDHR but the problem I have is that my server is connected to my network via a wireless G bridge. This works well for SD. I think the video stream from the HDHR to the server being sent via wireless would not be the best choice, so I am thinking a device like this should do the trick. This way the HDHR and the server are wired, but I still have my wireless connection to the internet. Anybody else doing something similar.

Also I wonder if I could use a simple HUB and use my current bridge. This is what I am using now.

Any thoughts? Perhaps there is something I don't understand about the HDHR.

I realize that streaming the HD content would not be possible. I also realize I need to update my server. I plan on doing all teh above. I am trying to get a feel right now on what all I need to buy.

Re: A HDHR question.

Just to make sure that I understand. You plan on putting this wireless bridge near your server and then hard-wiring from the server to the bridge and from the HDHR to the bridge ? As long as you disabled the wireless on the server, it seems like it would work. I would think that you could do the same with a wired switch or hub (and leave the wireless on the server). I seem to remember a post in the last month or so where somebody did something similar

Currently there is no wireless connection on the server, per se. As far as it is concerned it is connected to a 100Mbit wired LAN. The Ethernet card of the server connects to the wireless bridge. In the current config I would need to have the HDHR, the server, and the bridge connected to the switch or hub. I think that should work.(?)

I''m not sure you can have a wireless internet connection while using a separate local wired network for your HDHR. At least not using Windows XP . The networking metrics for Windows default to giving preference to wired connections over wireless that have the same value. I believe Windows XP would try to route your internet traffice to your hub/switch.
Perhaps a custom DHCP solution for the HDHR or a new routing table could work?

Re: A HDHR question.

I am not sure I understand what your saying. Everything at the BTV server would be routed to the HUB/ Switch. From there the internet connection would be routed to the bridge which would send it to my router. No?

Re: A HDHR question.

I thought you intended two use two connections simultaneously. Sorry for the confusion.
