Shows not appearing in library

I manually copied a couple of .avi's into the library directory, but they don't appear in recorded shows.
I pulled up web admin and the log showed that BTV and detected new media - specifically the .avi's I added.
Any idea why they won't appear and what to do about it?
I know I've done this successfully on an earlier version of BTV, just not lately.

Re: Shows not appearing in library

Have you tried shutting down the view scape and restarting? You should not have to do that, but something to try. I haven't had any problems with this.

ddekreon ---

You might check the file attributes. Hidden is bad.

You might kill off the BTVLibrary task. After it restarts, it should find the files.

Re: Shows not appearing in library

Shut down viewscape and the btv server (in the tray) - didn't help
Rebooted the pc completely - didn't help
Removed Read-Only attributes on files - didn't help.

What really confuses me is the webadmin log clearly indicating new media was detected, and naming the file specifically.

IN GUI, When you are looking at your recorded shows, press the right arrow key to change views (folder view, all, etc). Switch to all to see if you see them.

In webadmin, look under recorded shows and see if you can see them?

Re: Shows not appearing in library

Yes - cycled through all, by series, and by folder without success.
When I'd done this before, I'd immediately see an UNKNOWN series in recorded shows with my .avi in it.. now, nothing.

Can someone try copying one of their existing shows, with BTV off, to a new name and see if it picks up?

Re: Shows not appearing in library

Did you ever get this figured out? I think I've found that some .AVI files are just different than others. I've copied into BTV files that I downloaded from P2P and it won't see them, but when I used #1 DVD ripper to rip a couple of DVD's to DIVX they worked perfectly.

Re: Shows not appearing in library

BeyondTV often has problems with finding programs.

I have a little command file that seems to draw BeyondTV's attention to changes.

I am sure the SnapStream staff could solve the problem if they wished.

George, post your little command file. I'm sure everyone would love to give it a shot to see how it might help with the issue.

I've been using handbrake to rip some TV DVD's to Beyond TV this week and BTV immediately recognizes these avi's.

How did you obtain these avi's? Did you download them or did you create them yourself with some software?

Can you please post the command file that helps you. I am having the exact same problem. Newly recorded shows are showing fine in the webadmin and I can play the files manually with VLC, but the shows are only listed as a series in BTV in the Recorded Shows, but when you go into that series, no show is listed. I have tried rebooting, deleting the video folders and recreating in the webadmin. Nothing is helpining.
