What product for my laptop?

I want to travel (ok I have to travel)...and I want to take my Beyond TV library with me.

What product do I use to watch my library on my laptop?

Transferring is no problem...lots of technology to do that.

Re: What product for my laptop?

You can watch non-HD shows using Windows Media Player and HD shows through an appropriate player.

Re: What product for my laptop?

VLC will play just about any format, including *.tp and *.ts files. WMP can play them too, but I prefer VLC's interface, featureset, etc.

http://www.videolan.org/

You'll find out very quickly if your laptop has enough "juice" to playback 1080 HD files smoothly. If it's a newer product (dual-core with a decent GPU or onboard graphics capability) it should handle 1080p content fine. For reference, my Lenovo ThinkPad T42p (1.8Ghz Dothan) with ATI FireGL T2 video handles 720p fine but chokes on 1080p. A newer T60p (2.0Ghz Core Duo) with ATI FireGL V5200 handles 1080p smooth as glass.

The file formats BTV uses make portability of recorded content a snap -- it's one of the best features of BTV, IMO.

P.S. I know ATSC broadcasts are currently either 720p or 1080i, but I use HD movie trailers in 1080p as my defacto video playback benchmark, which is why I mention 1080p above.

Re: What product for my laptop?

Downloaded it, installed it...and played it...works perfectly.

Did not know the portability would have been this easy.

Thanks everyone.
