Grainy playback in BTV of .avi's created with AutoGK

I just downloaded the latest 2.40 version of AutoGK because I wanted to try creating some .avi's from a few DVD's. I recoded two different movies and they look perfect when played back with anything but BTV.

I copied the .avi file to my BTV folder and BTV recognized it in Recorded TV, but when I play it back, the picture is extremely grainy, kinda like "Film Effect" is turned on to the max.

I am using NVidia PureVideo codecs for audio and video in BTV, but it doesn't use those to playback the .avi's, at least my tray icon for PureVideo doesn't show up.

I recoded the movies using default AutoGK settings, meaning they were done with the Xvid codec I guess, but i've always used Divx codecs to play Xvid files. Anyone have an idea why BTV plays them so grainy?

Has anyone else tried this with good results?
