BTV 4.6 Can Record directly to Samba Server!!
I had always heard that BTV 4.6 couldn't record directly to a NAS, but I thought I would give it a try. I set up a folder on the samba server, and mapped a folder to it in WebAdmin. I set up a show to record to this alternate folder, and it worked!!!
This now allows me use terabytes of raid5 storage  Jon

The other issue was that BTV didn't expire LiveTV buffers recorded to NAS/Samba devices. No idea if that's been fixed, as I haven't retried since switching back to local-disk only LiveTV buffers.

I now use show squeeze to copy nightly to the Samba server. A reboot is scheduled just before morning. This way all my shows are always availbable in viewscape.
Hopefully this will all become unecessary when 4.7 is released with it's drive pooling.
