HVR-1600 and OnAir GT

I currently have the OnAir GT and I am using the stock software which works fine. My biggest complaint is that I can not pause analog TV, only digital or QAM channels. My family watches mostly analog, I watch HD My question is will the HVR-1600 be happy living with the OnAir and can I pause analog as well as digital. The HVR-1600 also has 2 tuners. Do I just run a 3 way splitter before my HTPC and hook a cable to each one? I am assuming that I would be able to record 1 HD from OnAir GT and 1 HD from HVR-1600 as well as 1 analog using the Snapstream software?

Thanks, Brian

Re: HVR-1600 and OnAir GT

I think the bigger question is will the OnAir GT software work with Beyond TV (the SnapStream software). A tuner does not record television, the software does.

So it sounds like you want to try to run the OnAir GT with it's own software to watch/record HD. And then use Beyond TV to record both digital and analog off of the HVR-1600.

The problem is that two different DVR applications often do not work together because they both try to grab the tuner cards. You could test this out by just download the Beyond TV software and seeing if it can run concurrently with your OnAir GT software.

Oh, and yes, you can just split the cable.

BTV does not support QAM tuning with the HVR 1600. You will only be able to watch HD on the 1600 if you use an antenna for OTA.

Re: HVR-1600 and OnAir GT

Thank you for the reply. I guess the bigger question is when is BTV going to be supporting all of the newer QAM tuners out there. I'm sure there are people like me that now have a QAM tuner and want to watch and record HD. I'm not sure when the next update is, but I would hope that QAM tuning is the #1 priority on the agenda.

Thanks again, Brian
