What quality is best to record on in BTV?

Hello. BTV has 4 different recording quality settings to choose from. Best(DVD Ready), Good (DVD ready), Better, & Fair. Can anyone explain which is best to record in? The default is set to Best (DVD Ready). I have this & noticed that obviously, the recording uses more space on hard drive.I have lowered it to Good (DVD Ready).Should I lower it more if it will effect how much I can eventually get on a DVD? I am not really worried about hard drive space as it is recording to a large ext hard drive, but I was wondering that for the same time amount of recording, does the one that takes less GB's, once changed to MPEG1 with DVD author, will I be able to fit more on a disk. How much does the quality setting really matter with the pic, & why does BTV have the DVD ready notaion by Best & Good. Thanks

Re: What quality is best to record on in BTV?

By lowering the quality of the recording you will get smaller files sizes for each video. This should allow you to fit more content onto a DVD.

If you are using Snapstream's DVD plugin then I wouldn't worry about reducing the quality of your recorded videos to fit onto a DVD. When the video is too big for a DVD, the DVD burning plugin will compress the video(s) to fit onto a DVD. Therefore, you can record and watch videos at DVD(Best) quality and still compress them (if needed) to fit onto a DVD when the file(s) are to big.
