[FR] Ability to specify guide update frequency?
I am getting frustrated with guide updates.
Because they are processor intensive, they cause my shows to skip if the update occurs during a recording. To combat that, I've been MANUALLY kicking off guide updates in the morning (when there are no recordings happening). What I'm seeing now is that BTV updates again whenever it wants to... Last night it updated at 9:15pm (during a heavy recording time). My recordings are jerky. PLEASE, SnapStream, make a> guide updates 'intellegent' -- if there is a recording scheduled for, say, within 45 minutes, DO NOT PERFORM the guide update. Or b> make guide updates respect the ShowSqueeze constraints. Or, c> allow the user to specify that guide updates happen no less often than 24 hours apart.

Something fishy is going on... you experience high CPU usage during smartskip and guide updates, too that cause jumpiness? Again, I don't see this on either of my BTV servers....

Yes, I experience high CPU during INDEXING (during ShowSqueeze) and guide updates. I've been running BTV since October 2002 (hardware specs in my sig) and have only recently started experiencing the issues I've mentioned.

Try using Fonceur's app BTV-Negociator, it will let you set the guide update time among lots of other features. It's in the BTV Downloads section I believe.

Thanks very much. I've got it installed and configured to auto-launch (minimized) on boot.
I hope it fixes the issue, and appreciate the quick beta! Once my defrag finishes, I'll reboot to verify that the beta fix works.
