How do I know if I have QAM channels on my cable?

Title says it all, I've spent a chunk of the day figuring out what all the HDHR, ATSC, QAM stuff is about and that's what I'm left with. I'm a BeyondTV veteran and this HDHR thing sounds awesome, but only if I've actually got magical hidden HD channels on my basic cable connection just waiting to be tapped into... OTA ATSC doesn't interest me; I don't want to deal with an antenna...

I'm in western MI, and I have Charter cable... None of the threads I've found anywhere hint and what I might have access to and Charter isn't spilling the beans...

I posted this exact question in the SiliconDust forum already, but I wanted to get it in front of a few more eyes so I'm asking here as well...

The AVS forums are another place to look.

Re: How do I know if I have QAM channels on my cable?

For Charter in central WI we have CBS, ABC, PBS and PBS HD in HD. We don't have NBC or FOX since both are not available OTA in HD. There are several several SD channels available via QAM. include CSPAN, CSPAN2, FOX, NBC, WGN, My TV, The CW, Hallmark and a couple of local community channels.

Hope this helps.

Re: How do I know if I have QAM channels on my cable?

I just got a HVR-1600 the other day.

I finally got the QAM drivers to work and scanned my Comcast cable to take a look.

I get roughly 70 channels in ClearQAM. Almost all of the HD channels.
