Feature Request :: Restore to Windowed View

I use BeyondTV on my desktop computer, and I've experienced one caveat that I would love to see worked on in future releases.

Scenario

This caveat only applies when you are either 1.) watching a recorded show, or 2.) watching Live TV.

Issue

The problem is that there is no direct way (without using a Remote) to restore BeyondTV to a windowed view when BeyondTV is in the maximized view.

Workaround

The workaround I've been using is the following:
  1. Click screen to pop up controls (clock, show description, pause, stop, etc.)
  2. In the top-right, click the clock-looking icon to bring up the TV Guide
  3. At the top of the Guide, click the Restore Icon (third from the left)
  4. At the top of the Guide, click the left-pointing arrow (first icon from the left) to return to Live TV or the recorded show

As you can see, this is a very cumbersome procedure, where all it would take is a Restore icon placed on the Live TV and Recorded Show interface.

Re: Feature Request :: Restore to Windowed View

If you use the FireFly RF remote -- for instance -- hitting the maximize button -- Red - in the top left will toggle it.

Also -- the corresponding keyboard command can be mapped to a button on the remote -- depending on the type of remote -- it's just Alt+Enter

Re: Feature Request :: Restore to Windowed View

In my original post, I note that there's no direct way WITHOUT using a remote to toggle it. Obviously the (white) maximize button on the Firefly remote works just fine.

My main point for making this request is that the Restore/Maximize button appears to exist everywhere in BeyondTV interface *except* when watching a recorded show or LiveTV. When taking into account the fact that this is my desktop computer and that I'm using a mouse much more than a remote, this becomes a little bit of an annoyance.

I for one would prefer not to have a button showing on the screen when watching a recorded show or liveTV. I just want to see the show itself. If you are watching on a desktop and want to go to windowed mode without a remote control, just hit Alt-Enter as bnflaherty mentioned.

EDIT: I guess if you don't have a keyboard and only have a mouse.... (don't know why that would be) SS could add a "minimize/maximize window button at the top right where settings etc show up when you move the mouse...

Re: Feature Request :: Restore to Windowed View

Is there a reason why using the keyboard shortcut isn't an option?

Not having to switch hands from the mouse to the keyboard, a.k.a. laziness.

The button would not be visible at all times, and would follow the same suit as the other buttons (stop, pause, volume, etc) -- it's only there when you click the screen with a mouse (or use the remote).

Thanks for the Alt+Enter suggestion from both of you though. Although I still think the Restore/Maximize should be built into the interface for consistency sake.

Good point.

I would think it would be a pretty easy thing/feature for SS to add.
