Recorded show not what burned to DVD

I used my Hauppage HVR-1600 to record last nights Lost episode. It was an over the air HD signal.I recorded at best quality. I used Nero to transcode and burn it to DVD.

What burned to DVD was 2-30 minute episodes of The Wonder Years from the local ION TV over the air HD signal. I started up Beyond TV and played the 9 gig file that recorded to my hard drive, and it was most definitely last nights Lost. What's going on here?

I ran into this same problem with ffmpgx for Mac - trying to transcode and burn.

My guess is that "The Wonder Years" is on a sub-channel of the one that Lost is on. In the MPEG-2 transport stream is both programs. BTV knows which one you recorded and want to watch, but your trancoder does not and chose incorrectly.

I fixed this by using BTV showsqueeze to convert to DivX HD (high). This strips out the stream that you want and compresses it in the process. Then, you should be able to burn a DVD. For me, I trancoded again to MOV with ffmpegx and used iDVD.

You simply need to run StreamSnip on those OTA files, to only keep the sub-channel you recorded, this way other applications wont get confused with the multiple sub-channels...
