hauppauge 950 vs 1600

I am thinking about getting another tuner card.

Opt #1 - HDRH
Opt #2 - HVR-950
Opt #3 - HRV-1600

Does the 950 record HD from cable? Does the 1600 record HD from OTA or cable?

Any comments on which I should get? I currently have a PVR-500.

Thanks.

KAS...

Opt 1 is the only one that will do HD cable and only unencrypted channels. On my cable system there are ZERO unencrypted HD stations.

2 and 3 will do OTA HD. 3 will also do cable SD (it is a dual tuner)

Thanks. That's what I thought. I just wanted to get some confirmation that I was right - make sure that I wasn't missing something. I'll probably get the HDHR.

Does anyone know how many channels are unencrypted on Comcast in Indianapolis?

Thanks...

Re: hauppauge 950 vs 1600

The HVR-950 has an SD tuner as well, but cannot record from both simultaneously. HVR-1600 is a great card, but does not support QAM. Not an issue for me as, like tscales, there are no unencrypted channels on my cable.
